La Bretagne fournit de grands champions à l’image de Johan Le Bon, Warren Barguil, et Olivier Le Gac. Depuis la saison dernière, il y a le Champion d’Europe sur route Juniors, Franck Bonnamour , 18 ans, qui vient d’entamer son début de saison en élite au sein de la formation BIC 2000 en conjuguant sa vie d’étudiant à l’université à Brest où il est en première année de STAPS (Sport). Be Celt l’a interrogé après la Route Bretonne où il a terminé 7ème.
Franck, comment vous sentez-vous en ce début de saison ?
« Bien, ça commence à bien partir là. Je sors d’un stage d’entraînement avec l’équipe de France à la Londes des Maures dans le sud de la France. Les jambes sont revenues et je commence à me montrer sur les courses. Au début, sur l’Essor Basque, j’étais surtout là pour découvrir et pour faire connaissance avec la catégorie élite. Je n’ai donc pas fait de résultat. je suis surtout là pour apprendre. »
Vous finissez pourtant 7ème sur la Route Bretonne…
« Oui je me sentais vraiment bien. J’avais les jambes et la condition après le stage avec l’équipe de France. Mais je ne vois pas ce qu’il se passe devant et je rate la bonne échappée. Ensuite, j’ai mis du temps à sortir et je ne pars que vers la fin dans la dernière bosse mais je suis content de cette 7ème place. »
La Manche Atlantique la semaine prochaine ?
« Oui, je suis content d’y aller car c’est le premier objectif de la saison et cette 7ème place me rassure avant d’y aller. »
Quels sont vos objectifs cette saison ?
« Apprendre et découvrir les courses élites. Ensuite tenter de faire des places si possible. Avec l’équipe BIC, on va faire Liège-Bastogne-Liège Espoirs (U23) cette saison. J’aime bien ce genre de course, je suis un puncheur et le profil de cette classique me convient bien. Etre là pour les épreuves Coupe de France et le Championnat national, c’est ce que je veux faire cette saison. »
La carrière pro, vous y pensez ?
« Non, pas vraiment. Je ne me prends pas la tête avec ça. D’abord découvrir les courses et faire des places tout en me faisant plaisir. Je ne pense pas trop à ça, je veux d’abord m’éclater sur un vélo. »
Comment êtes-vous arrivé au cyclisme ?
« Comme ça, j’en avais envie. Mes parents sont impliqués dans le sport cycliste mais ils ne m’ont jamais poussé à en faire. J’allais voir les courses et surtout celles de mon cousin. C’est à partir de là que j’ai voulu en faire en compétition. Je suis arrivé en Cadet assez tard en fin de compte. »
Comment est l’ambiance au sein des BIC 2000 ?
« Vraiment bonne, il y a une vraie cohésion, on s’entend vraiment bien avec David Le Lay, Olivier Le Gac, Geoffroy Millour et tout les autres. On est vraiment une équipe. »

Frank, how do you feel this season ?
« Well, it starts out from here. I go to a training camp with the team of France to La Londes in the south of France . The legs came back and I started to show in the races. First, the Basque Race , I was mainly there to see and to get to know the elite category . So I have not got any result sop far. I ‘m mostly here to learn first. »
Yesterday on Route Bretonne you finished on a good 7th place.
« Yes I felt really good. My legs and the condition after the training with the team of France . But I do not see what happens before and I missed the breakaway , I still hung on. Then I took time out and I do not leave until late in the last climb. But I’m glad with this 7th place. »
Manche Atlantic next week?
« Yes, I ‘m happy to go there because it is the first goal of the season and this 7th place reassures me before going there. »
Your goals this season?
« Learn and discover the elite races . Then try to get podiums if it’s possible . With the team BIC , we’ll do Liège Bastogne Liège (U23 ) this season. I like this kind of race , I’m a puncher and the profile of this classic suits me well . Being there for the tests and the Coupe de France Championnat de France . This is what I want to do this season. »
Pro career , you think ?
« No, not really. I am not thinking about it too much . First I need to learn how to win some races and hepefully enjoy riding my bike. »
How you get into cycling ?
« That way I wanted to. My parents are involved in the sport of cycling but they never pushed me into it . I went to the races and especially that of my cousin. It is from there that I wanted to do in competition. I arrived in Cadet 1st year (U15) , rather late in the end. »
The atmosphere with the BIC 2000?
« Really good, there is a real cohesion , it means really well with David Le Lay and Olivier Le Gac , Geoffroy Millour and all others. It is truly a good team. »
