ENGLISH VERSION
Ryan Mullen is one of the hopes of the Irish cycling with a record really good at only 18 years old, Vice European Junior champion TT, 9th World Championship TT, and winner of the last Chrono of Nations in France. Pro since this year the English team IG Sigma with his compatriot Peter Hawkins, the young rider learn a lot and appreciate even more the choice to turn pro. Be celt asked him some questions
How do you feel after a few months with IG-Sigma?
« I’ve really enjoyed my time with the new team. I’ve done some really good races and I’ve learnt a lot in a very short period of time. The team are very helpful and theyve given me a lot of advice and tips which I really appreciate. I’m really looking forward to the months ahead and I’m excited to see how I go in the summer. »
What is your main goal of the season?
« I think my main objective this year will be the Irish National U23 championships. I’d love to get a result in the TT. I felt proud wearing the champioship bands as a junior and to get the chance to wear them again as an U23 would be amazing. »
You finished 5th in the race « Eddie Soens », do you like « classic’s Race »?
« I finished 5th in the Eddie Soens this year which I was relatively happy with although I felt I could have made the podium had I been positioned a little better for the sprint. I had good form then and when I have good form I’m able to sprint pretty well. I do like classic one day races as I tend to do quite well in them but Stage racing is what I really love though. »
How did you feel in » Tour des Flandres U23″?
« I rode the U23 Flanders with the Irish squad. I loved the experience but I had a bit of bad luck with a puncture before a key section and the team car was very far back in the cavalcade which meant I was waiting for a long time for a wheel. I lost contact with the bunch after that as the gap was just too big to close on my own which was a great shame as it’s a race I would love to get a result in. »
France soon ?
« I rode Cote Picard Nations Cup a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed racing in France. I’m unsure of when I’ll return there but I hope it will be soon. I’ll certainly be back for the Chrono des Nations at the end of the season. But I’d really like the opportunity to do a few more races there before the season is over. »
